1 Nephi 16: 9 – 12
Lehi is commanded to commence his journey into the wilderness and then he is given the Liahona. It has two spindles. One spindle pointed the way to go. The Liahona operated on Faith, but how did they know that? How did they know which spindle to follow? Both answers are “they had faith already.” When they were told to leave, the question in their minds was “which way?” When they saw the ball they thought “I guess this will tell us.” The evidence of their faith is that they packed up and left.
