Tonight Savannah started looking at pianos on KSL classifieds while Laura and I were running errands. She made arrangements to go see pianos ranging in price from $800 to $50. I had warned her that any piano priced at $100 or less was very likely to be a reclamation project. The first 2 pianos sounded very good although the second one looked like it needed a good deal of cosmetic work (cleaning keys, keys chipped). They were proceed at $600 & $250. The next two weren’t impressive for different reasons (priced at $800 & $275) the last one was amazing. It wasn’t necessarily nicer than the first one but it was very nice, had good action, well cared for, and is closest to the house (it’s in American Fork). I would happily have paid $400 for it but it was priced at $50 by an elderly couple who don’t care about the money, they just want it to go to a good home. It’s been in their family for 50+ years and in his father’s family before that. It’s over 120 years old but looks nearly new. Now we just need to arrange for movers and a piano tuner.
Additionally our new room is taking shape. I like the way that corner out of the family room looks.
