1 Nephi 15: 1 – 30
Nephi returns from his vision to see his brothers arguing about Lehi’s words. Lehi had spoken words that must be led by the spirit to understand. Nephi asks if they have asked God. They say that they have not and he reminds them that if they keep the commandments and pray in faith they will learn of the Lord. He then goes on to explain the words of his father. The Nephites are a branch of House of Israel and have been separated or broken off. They will be restored to the House of Israel again through the work of the Gentiles after the gospel has been restored to the Gentiles. Nephi referred to Isaiah to help them understand. Nephi then explains the various symbols in Lehi’s dream and lovingly exhorts his brothers to be diligent in keeping the word of God so that they might obtain salvation. I believe that this is a type of our brother Jesus Christ coming to earth and preaching to us throughout history – lovingly calling us to do the will of the Father as Je had, was, and would so that we might obtain the blessings of exhaltation in the Celestial Kingdom of God.
