I got the opportunity to be an extra in T.C. Christensen’s movie about Willard Bean. I started the experience by arriving 20 minutes past call time due to accidents on I-15. Thankfully they weren’t cutting things close on when they asked us to arrive. After getting costumed up I went to wait near where they were shooting another scene and found myself navigating a field of cow pies. Good times.
As they finished the other scene I got to meet there actor playing Willard as well as the actress playing Mrs. Bean. A short time later T.C. Christensen himself came and greeted each extra individually. We probably waited almost an hour for the sun to set before we got to do our scene searching the Hill Cumorah for gold with shovels and lanterns. It was fun talking to the other extras and hearing their stories. Some were related to Willard Bean, others to T.C. Christensen, and others like me had no particular connection.
