Keeping records

I try to think how it was that Lehi had the records on the brass plates. Of course we know that he acquired then from Laban but why did Laban have records? It was because his father’s kept them because the Jews were a record keeping people. The thing I realized it’s that in most cases, the records when first when had no assurance of becoming scripture. The important thing in the effort to record what is spiritually significant is to be in the habit of recording present information so that whatever portion if it proves to be significant is on record. The fact is that most of what is significant is only down to be significant as it is reviewed after the fact and it’s lasting value becomes evident.
