How much was new?

Aside from some details, we know that the bill of what king Benjamin taught in his great sermon was already known among the Nephite prophets for generations and was taught by them. That makes me wonder if this was new to the descendents of Mulek or to any of the other people of king Benjamin. It may be that the content of the address was unremarkable despite the remarkable experience of those who heard it.
