1 Nephi 12: 1 – 5
Nephi is now blessed to see in vision his posterity and the posterity of his brothers. He sees their condition just before Christ comes to visit them. Wars and contention and destruction. Then he sees the destruction at Christ’s death and the darkness over the land. Nephi saw the time prior to Christ’s first visit so that he could prophesy and leave a record of what was to be so that the people who lived when it happened could recognize the signs. We now live prior to Christ’s second coming. Prophets have seen our time and prophesied and left records in the scriptures of signs of these times. We must heed their warnings.
