1 Nephi 11: 2 – 23
Nephi is asked about his faith “Believest thou . . .” Nephi’s answers should be mine too “Yea, thou knowest that I believe.”

Nephi is blessed as his father had been and he gets what he desired. Elder Maxwell said that we all get what we desire eventually. The key is to tune our desires to righteousness so that it works to our salvation. Nephi is called as a prophet and is told “After ye have witnessed [Christ] ye shall bare record that is is the Son of God.” That is one of the consequences of Nephi’s desire. Because I have that desire I will have that same mandate when that desire is realized. Am I ready?

Nephi sees the tree of life and is asked what he desires again. He requests the interpretation. Here is the divine response. He is shown the virgin Mary and the angel asks if he understands. He tells what he knows and the Angel says that she is Christ’s mother. Then Nephi sees Mary with the baby Jesus. When asked if he understands the tree now he says that it is the Love of God. The angel says he’s right.

The tree is God’s Love
