Mosiah 29:30

Mosiah commands his people to choose their judges in an attitude of being mindful of the will of God. He then tells them what the societal consequence of this new system of government will be. The consequence is that when people commit sins, they will be answered upon their own heads. Many peoples’ sins are caused by the iniquity of their king and are answered upon the king’s head. In a society without a king, ruled by judges chosen by the voice of the people, each man is responsible for his own sin. If a judge sins, it is answered upon his own head. If people pick a wicked judge knowingly, than any sin caused by his wickedness will be answered upon their heads, including his head.
