1 Nephi 10: 8 – 9
John the Baptist was a sort of missionary. His message is our message now. His message was his testimony of Christ. He was leading people to Christ, not making a following like many religious leaders of his time and ours. Even Christ does not really do that. He does not call men to follow Him in order to build Himself or His prestige (added 2/17/2010), but he does so to draw men unto the Father.
John had a special mission to baptize the Savior. Our mission is related as Paul states it in Romans 6:3. We baptize people “into Jesus Christ.”
“[Christ is] the first that should rise from the dead” to enter God’s kingdom (Acts 26:23) and the people we “baptize into Jesus Christ” have the opportunity then to add themselves to that kingdom if they remain faithful.
