I notice that the language switches from first person to third person after Zeniff confers the kingdom on Noah. This indicates to me that Noah either kept no record and Mormon had to use the words of scorer record keeper or else Mormon had to cut through the vain record that Noah had kept of his reign with an abridgement that accurately depicted what Noah did as king. We see the voice of Noah come through when he is angry with Abinadi.
