Ether was born in captivity as a member of the royal family. His father’s had been in captivity for at least two generations before him and yet he came forth from captivity. I honestly believe that he was released because he was seen as not being a that to the king who then occupied the throne that had been usurped from Ether’s family. What I wonder is if before he was released they required him to swear that he would not seek the throne. I imagine that if that was the case he would have easily made such a promise as he had no desire to rule a wicked people.
