A cat family

We’ve been talking about getting a cat or possibly two for a while now. When Mitzi died I had promised to get Alyssa another pet and after considering various options we concluded that a cat was something that both Laura and Alyssa could agree on. On Sunday we discovered that the humane society was having a program currently where they were waiving all adoption fees for cats in hopes of finding homes for 400 cats in one month so we decided to go on Monday and see if we could find a good cat. We thought about a couple of them but we went home empty handed.

Today the family picked me up from work again to have another look. They had a bunch of new cats to see and many of the ones we had seen before were already gone but we found a room of pasta cats – five cats that were all named for types of pasta: macaroni, tortellini, penne, ravioli and I’ve forgotten the name of the fifth one. Alyssa fell in love with Penne and Laura fell in love with Ravioli so we decided to take both of them. We had to convince the shelter to let us take both since bringing a cat home can be stressful in the family and the cat but they eventually allowed it.

Alyssa has renamed Penne as Koi (after an Aztec? goddess). Laura has renamed Ravioli as Kylo (after Kylo Ren). We had a very long drive home as we stopped to get supplies for 2 cats but eventually we made it with only 1 potty mishap in the van. I get to sleep in the upstairs room where they are being housed to begin with to make sure they don’t start to fight when nobody is there.
