The name of the church

I never thought about it before but I realized tonight that when the disciples were asking what to call the church it was because earlier the people had not questioned what it would be called. That might be because they didn’t think about a name or it could be because they didn’t think of it as distinct from “all the people.”

I also realized tonight that when Jesus said He had joy in this generation and clarified that He means those who are now alive He is indicating that those of “this generation” who had perished were not all included in His cause for joy.
