I wonder if some of the times that the people failed to heed the directions of the compass were less because of sloth and more because of fatigue.
Think to times in my life where I probably couldn’t have received more direction from the Lord out more accurately I had no energy to act on any directions had I received them. In such times there is little will to ask.
In our own lives we need to be careful how easily we excuse ourselves with “I’m too tired right now” but when looking at others we should probably be more generous in considering that if they aren’t following divine counsel it may have more to do with fatigue or overwhelm more than sloth.
