After Jesus ascended to heaven the people immediately began to prepare for his return on the morrow. When the people had gathered the next morning the disciples began to teach them the words Jesus had taught and followed that up by performing baptisms (at least for the disciples – it is unclear if others were baptized before Jesus came down among them).
