I thought that Amalikiah had men inciting the Lamanites against the Nephites for years after he became king (I had two years in mind) but now I discover that it was all within one year that he lost the vote among the Nephites, escaped, became king of the Lamanites, and had the Lamanites marching to battle against the Nephites. During the year while he did this Moroni was altering the defensive situation of the Nephites so that all the information that Amalikiah and his Zoramite captains had was out of date by the time they attacked.
