I hadn’t realized that twelve of Jacobs children – all but Benjamin – were born while he was still living with Laban, his father in law. He said he was with Laban 20 years. I’m not sure if that was 20 years in total or of it was 20 years after he had served Laban in order to may his daughters. I’m either case, 11 children in 27 years is not particularly slow. The 27 would be if Jacobs fighting of 20 years didn’t start until after he had served the second set of seven years for Rachel during which time his wife’s could have been hearing him children. At the other extremely, 11 children in 13 years of absolutely insane. 13 years would be if the 20 years included all 14 years of service for his two wives, of which they would not have been hearing children during the first 7 years before they were married.
