God gives gifts is the spirit for the purpose of blessing all those who keep the commandments and all those who seek to keep the commandments. If any gifts are being used in a way that excludes some from benefiting (meaning refusing to use them for the benefit of some who are seeking to keep the commandments) then they are being misused.
