Getting sidetracked

Moroni wrote to answer about exchanging prisoners but went off on a tangent about the wicked root of the war and insisting that the Lamanites withdraw. Ammoron must have been confused to read that as he expected to hear about prisoners. The funny thing is that if Ammoron had confined his response to the prisoner exchange terms that Moroni proposed they might have exchanged prisoners but because he followed the sidetrack and tried to argue the justice of his cause for war he rolled Moroni up again and Moroni instead freed the Nephite prisoners, gained a city, and took even more Lamanite prisoners.
