Softened hearts

I will soften the hearts of the Gentiles, that they shall be like unto a father to {thy seed}.

2 Nephi 10:18

I suspect that the way Native Americans have become romanticized in American culture is a sign of hearts being softened. Before they were romanticized they were reviled among many of the European transplants and their descendants.
