I have often expected that the Family Proclamation would eventually become part of our scriptural canon. At times I have wondered why that has not happened already. As I studied the history surrounding Sections 137 and 138 of the Doctrine and Covenants I had more thoughts on the subject. For one thing, there might be more of a push to canonize the proclamation ones all those who signed it have passed away which will be a while yet. On the other hand, as i read it again tonight I also noticed that unlike the sections of the Doctrine and Covenants (besides Section 135) and the two Official Declarations this is the words of prophets telling us the perspective of God rather than carrying the voice of the Lord directly as revelation. That being the case I could see the possibility that it is never canonized.
