Brother Pat Gillan tells a story of going with the young men to the summit of Mount Whitney many years ago. When they got back from their 15 hour, 22 mile hike where they had gained 6000 feet in elevation they had spaghetti for dinner. For weeks afterward his wife got calls from the mothers of those boys asking for the recipe because the boys enjoyed it so much. There was nothing special about the spaghetti, they just loved it so much because they had accomplished such a challenge first and it nourished them when they needed it. Likewise our faith will be the more precious to us when it nourishes us after major spiritual challenges.
