I wonder again at the uneven affection Jacob had between his wives that led them to compete for his affection. Leah knew that he loved Rachel more but expected him to live her for beating him children. Rachel knew that he loved her more but feared that without providing him children she would lose his favor. I also wonder about the feelings of Bilhah and Zilpah. Did they forever feel second class in the household because their marriages were at the pleaser of their mistresses and they did not even get to name their own children?
Was there anything that Jacob could have done to reduce the strife within his household and the strife between his household and the household of Laban?
