Nuggets of insight

While sitting in Sunday School i had the following impression regarding teaching although I am still trying to figure out how to share and apply it: if we are trying to lead the discussion (as in, we have decided where the comments should be headed generally) we will be less open to following where the Spirit leads either us or the members of our class. Our goal instead should be to constantly invite the Spirit. If we detect that the Spirit is not accompanying a direction of discussion then it is time to move on but if the Spirit is in the discussion then we can follow so long as that remains the case because then the Spirit is teaching the class.

I didn’t see who made the comment but essentially she said that she thinks of “innumerable” as “infinite” which can’t be counted, in other words it is endless. Regardless of the numbers involved the promise is to have a posterity that continues through all generations and throughout eternity.

As parents we should always try to help our children be connected to Christ but even if they are pulling away from Christ we can strive to keep them connected to us so that as they return to us they will find and become connected to Christ later if we have maintained our connection to Christ. We are certainly in a place now with some of our children where all we can do at the moment is try to maintain or strengthen our connection to them and wait for them to become open to a connection to Christ at some future point.
