I had always read the definition of priestcraft as setting oneself up for a light tu the world to get gain and praise of the world and while that is true it is not complete. The definition also stipulates that they do not seek the welfare of Zion. In other words, it is possible to set yourself up for a light to the world and even to receive gain and praise but so long as your aim is the welfare of Zion it is not necessarily priestcraft. That seems a fine line—one that allows those who find fame and gain when they weren’t seeking it to not fear the fame.
