One of Moroni’s great skills was to perceive and focus on the big picture. He was never just trying to win the battle before him and he recognized the ultimate intent of those he fought so that he knew the importance of why he fought. That was why he was not lulled when Amalickiah had been driven from the land and his army vanquished. That was why he recognized that it was more important to focus on the king-men in Zerahemla even while the Lamanites were occupying a significant portion of the Nephite lands already.
I fear that failing to see it focus on the true big picture is what has led so many conservatives who were once rational to either support the evil of Trump or to try being nuanced with their “both sides” perspective such that they fail to fight Trumpism vigorously because they are afraid of emboldening the liberals.
