Two different approaches

After gaining power over the army of Zerahemnah Moroni first tried to let them leave in peace because his son was the security of his people, not the punishing of his enemy. When Zerahemnah refused that offer and stirred up his people to fight Moroni (as he had warned) commanded his people to destroy the army of Zerahemnah. Of course, not being desirous for blood, Moroni had his men cease as soon as Zerahemnah agreed to leave in peace when he saw that they would be swept away by the army of Moroni.

I can’t help but think of today. It’s okay sometimes (perhaps often) to allow troublemakers to depart in peace of given the opportunity (think Nixon after Watergate) but when they refuse any opportunity to leave in peace (think Trump after 2020) then it is time to get serious about ending their ability to continue waging war. Those who still hope that Trump will go away (or even be forced to go away) from politics are mistaken. At this point we must doggedly pursue him and his followers with every legal strategy available until they sue for peace (agreeing to leave the political theater) or until they are no longer able to participate in politics. Any other strategy will simply enable them to continue to inflict damage to the nation.
