The Lord wanted Israel to repent so that their offerings could have any beneficial effect. Keeping the feasts without turning to the Lord leaves then no better than heathen nations.
I just realized that the Lord telling Isaiah to make the ears of Israel heavy with prophecy was a fulfillment of the prophecy that he would take away the prophet and the wise man from among the people. The prophet was still there but gave the people no benefit because they would not harken and understand.
