Nourishing and Bearing Your Testimony

I love how that young man was willing and able to tell the truth even when he had no desire to act as a missionary and share the gospel among these other people.

  1. God is your heavenly father
  2. God loves you (this might be part of #1 and I missed #2)
  3. Joseph Smith is a prophet
  4. The Church of Jesus Christ is the restored church
  5. The restored church is led by a prophet

Your social media activity will take on new meaning when you also use that social media activity to demonstrate how the gospel affects your life.

Sometimes testimonies are gained better on the feet sharing them than on the knees praying for them.

Here’s another talk I want to really study on my own time—many good reminders about building and maintaining a testimony.

I’ve never thought that the apostles might sometimes need courage to share their testimonies despite the fact that doing so is their whole calling.

I invite you to reflect upon these four questions:

  1. Do I know and understand what a testimony is?
  2. Do I know how to bear my testimony?
  3. What are the obstacles in sharing my testimony?
  4. How do I keep my testimony?

It is interesting what we can learn just by reflecting on the nature of testimony.

Key elements of your testimony, confirmed by the Holy Ghost, include:

  • God is your Heavenly Father; you are His child. He loves you.
  • Jesus Christ lives. He is the Son of the living God and your Savior and Redeemer.
  • Joseph Smith is a prophet of God called to restore the Church of Jesus Christ.
  • The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God’s restored Church on the earth.
  • The restored Church of Jesus Christ is led by a living prophet today.

If you do not have a testimony of each of these things it means that you still have spiritual work to do. It does not mean that you don’t have a testimony to share.

Your testimony in Jesus Christ isn’t just what you say—it’s who you are.

Each time you bear vocal witness or demonstrate through your actions your commitment to follow Jesus Christ, you invite others to “come unto Christ.”

Your tweets, direct messages, and posts will take on a higher, holier purpose when you also use social media to show how the gospel of Jesus Christ shapes your life.
