Alma reminds the people to remember the captivity of their fathers. I have long recognized that message, but after talking to Laura about remembering her former captivity to depression I now recognize the message to those who have been born of God and had his image graven upon their countenances that they remember their own former captivity and recognize that it is the Lord who has granted them any freedom they have found from former tendencies to sin.
