Jacob 1
I note that the Nephites and the Lamanites were not defined according to righteousness. Jacob defines them according to a particular line of kings (the line that followed Nephi). Those who followed that king, or were friendly to that kingdom were defined as Nephites and those who fought against that kingdom were Lamanites – regardless of righteousness. Of course any people who were righteous were likely to be friendly or else to only fight in defense. The Nephites, for their part, never attacked a righteous people (because there rarely was a righteous people when the Nephites were in an aggressive mindset).
