When King Benjamin saw the people “fallen to the earth, for the fear of the Lord has come upon them,” it was not “fear” as in cowering and afraid, it was fear as in respect for their relative position in reference to Him—reverence and awe for His great mercy in providing a path to exaltation which they could never merit no matter their lifelong effort. They saw themselves as supplicants to one with full power to save.
