Sorting truth

Father promised to send messengers to teach us but we are constantly surrounded by those teaching the philosophies of men mingled with scripture—attempting to teach their preferred ideas in a way that makes it hard to distinguish between philosophies of men and scripture.

The world will mingle “there’s nothing static (let alone eternal) about gender” with “God loves everyone” and uses the combination to try prying people away from the idea there is an eternal concept of what constitutes marriage and family. The question for those who seek righteousness is how to separate the philosophies of men from the scripture they have been mingled with. We do it by paying close attention to the messengers sent from Father.

If we encounter a popular philosophy and wonder where the philosophy diverges from the truth we should check what prophets and apostles (especially current ones) have said relative to the subject. Conversely, if we consistently pay attention to what the prophets and apostles are teaching we will be more prepared to recognize truth when we encounter new philosophies even before specifically searching out what those messengers have said in that topic.

For example with regard to modern gender ideology, the prophets and apostles have consistently emphasized the imperative to show love and kindness to all even when they adhere to ideologies and lifestyles that dismiss the eternal nature of marriages and the role of gender as part of a person’s divine identity and heritage.
