This revelation was given to show the will of the Lord concerning the temporal salvation of the saints. Maybe I should look to the scriptures and modern prophets to see if there is any direction regarding the financial aspect of the temporal salvation of the saints.
One of the things that I have been learning regarding the word of wisdom is the great value to be found in the “thou shalt” portions of the revelation. As meat is to be used in times of cold or famine, and because I know that much of the meat that we eat is eaten because it has more flavor than the grains, legumes, potatoes, etc., I wonder how much we could reduce our meat intake during the summer and early fall by learning to properly season our fruits, vegetables, grains and dairy products.
