It really struck me how Sharem makes sure to sound reasonable and learned and earnest in his beliefs. Not only that but he laboured diligently—we should never assume that those doing evil work will put in less effort than those doing the Lord’s work.
It’s also incredible how rapidly Sharem contradicts himself:
Sharem: “No man knoweth of such things; for he cannot tell of things to come.“
Jacob: “Deniest thou the Christ who shall come?”
Sharem: “If there should be a Christ, I would not deny him; but I know that there is no Christ, neither has been, nor ever will be.“
Jacob 7:7-9
