It just struck me that three different places settled by Nephites (not including Zerahemla) had 3 different experiences of the same time period. The people of Limhi were in bondage to the Lamanites as they lived in the land of Nephi. They suffered for their sinfulness through that bondage and were even punished for the sins of the people of Amulon when they abducted the daughters of the Lamanites.
The people of Amulon, in the land of Amulon, reluctantly built up a city over those same several years after escaping from the people rebelling against King Noah. Two years into their exile they abducted the daughters of the Lamanites because they didn’t dare returning to the land of Nephi where their families were. They were able to escape any consequences for those actions or for the times they snuck back to the land of being to steal from the people of Limhi. On the other hand, they stopped going to the land of Nephi to steal for long enough by the time they were discovered by the landmines that they forgot how to get to the land of Nephi.
The people of Alma repented and escaped from Noah and established the land of Helam not very long before things came crashing down in the land of Nephi. They lived peacefully and industriously there for all the years that the men of Amulon were causing trouble for the people of Limhi as well as the time it took for the people of Amulon to forget the way to the land of Nephi. We have to assume to they were discovered by the armies of the Lamanites within weeks of the time that the people of Limhi escaped. The timeline we can’t really know is home long they were in bondage while the people of Limhi were living safely in Zerahemla.
