From bad to good

No journal last night because we were out camping without any Internet connection but also because it was a very late evening. I was pressed by fires at work that had me looking into things after I got home and that was compounded by the kids just sitting around waiting for me to drive everything rather than doing the preparations that they could do. I was tempted at one point to just cancel but I knew that I would feel better by getting it in nature so I pushed through.

We didn’t even leave to go camping until after 7:30. That made it even less surprising to find that every site in the established campgrounds I wanted to look at on the Nebo Loop were already occupied. Driving through all three campgrounds also made it so that we didn’t find a site to set up (not in a campground) until 9PM. We had just enough light to set up the tent and hammocks but we did our cooking in the dark after we couldn’t get a fire going. While our sleeping arrangements weren’t perfect they were still very comfortable and we are quite willing to go back to that site.

We came home this morning by driving the rest of the Nebo Loop. That took longer than going back through Nephi would have but it also gave us the chance to see other promising sites we might use in the future. All in all it was a very pleasant camping trip and I feel good about us having a foundation for being able to camp wherever we feel like it, whether that is an every other week cadence like we chose for this summer out whether we chose any more or less regular cadence in the future.
