- Pay attention to Noah
- This idea from Laura complements the impression I’d had about listening to the kids to learn where they take their nourishment.
- My early impression of where Noah takes nourishment was “nowhere” or “mindless online drivel” neither of which are desirable and probably not completely fair either.
- I had been thinking about getting Noah a watch now that Ezra got my old one and I had been open to paying a little more to get a fitness tracking model.
- I think it was yesterday that the thought occurred to me that we could gamify physical activity among those with fitness trackers. We might even offer a small reward daily for the winner.
- The timing is perfect for me to kick it off because it is Noah’s week to go out with me.
- Laura recognized that her mom kept very busy as a full-time homemaker.
- Not only was Marsha doing orders of magnitude more around the house than Laura does but she also did things outside the home at various stages.
- Marsha picked up extra creative things (making things that were not strictly necessary for keeping a good house) which Laura had long since stopped doing.
- Laura feels trapped by our lack of resources to let the kids do more activities that bring a financial commitment.
- That’s an argument in favor of Laura finding a way to increase our cash flow.
- Would working in a library for Laura’s skills? Do any of the schools need a librarian?
Action Items
- Offer to buy Noah a watch (preferably an activity tracking one)
- Look into opportunities that Laura could do in the schools to keep busy while the kids are in school (paid or volunteer)
