Misguided Moroni

I chuckled at Moroni’s flawed but understandable assumption that there were “thousands of those, yea, and tens of thousands, {sitting} in idleness.” I’m sure Pahoran read that and wished that thousands or tens of thousands of king-men would have sat in idleness rather than taking up arms to oust him so that the thousands or tens of thousands of men defending his rightful position would have been free to be defending their nation against the Lamanites as Moroni was hoping and expecting.

When Moroni wrote that “except ye do administer unto our relief, behold, I come unto you, even in the land of Zarahemla, and smite you with the sword, insomuch that ye can have no more power to impede the progress of this people in the cause of our freedom,” Pahoran must have thought, “please, come to Zerahemnah and smite with the sword those in control there who are actively impeding the progress of those of us who are trying to support the cause of freedom.”
