We got a security system installed today because of a deal through the bank that just bought our mortgage. We’ll see how useful it ends up being but for at least the next 3 years we will have to get used to having an unforgiving boundary whenever it is armed (which means I can set a bedtime that means something).
We also had an electrical inspection (they both got scheduled for the same day) and needed to do some work on our main electrical box and circuits. I wasn’t excited to have another $1000 job but I was able to get a new external outlet installed basically for free ($20-$50 for a new breaker in the box and he threw in the rest for free since he was already working on replacing breakers in that box). It was very convenient that our box where electricity comes into the house is on the same side of the house as my little outdoor oasis where I wanted power.
