We’re not there yet

Because of the things which had come to pass already they knew … Therefore they did forsake all their sins, and their abominations, and their whoredoms, and did serve God with all diligence.

3 Nephi 5:2-3

Despite the turmoil of blatant lawlessness, insurrection, social unrest, and a global pandemic all within the last 5 years we have yet to come to the point where we have collectively begun to forsake our sins and abominations. We need to forsake our wickedness.

If we arrive at that point of collective repentance (and I hope we do soon) we will need to keep in remembrance that without vigilance it can be lost again quickly as proven by the Nephites who turned so far back to wickedness that not ten years after a fully 4-year (minimum) effort of forsaking their sins they had again embraced the worst of their sins to the point that their government utterly collapsed.

I am beginning to realize now just how adaptable the Lord is. While it is better for us to have stability He can and will continue to roll His work forward even if we decide to take the hard road of sin to the point of collective collapse.
