- I want to create optimal growth conditions.
- I feel this aligns perfectly with the Plan of Salvation.
- I recognize that optimal conditions for growth are not the same as ease. Opposition and challenge are necessary components of creating health and strength.
- Creating optimal growth conditions from our moral side of the equation means focusing on reducing those forms of opposition that are most effectively addressed by our temporal means.
- We can’t solve the pain of loss at a death but we can solve the pangs of physical hunger.
- We can’t eliminate the devastation of an injustice but we can enact justice to the best of our ability and make systemic corrections where possible to correct flaws in our systems.
- Is the quality or character of the opposition a more important factor relative to its potential to foster growth than the quantity or scale of the opposition is?
- I feel like there may be some kinds of opposition that are strictly toxic—that they never foster growth.
- The infinite atonement wouldn’t be infinite if there were kinds of opposition that it couldn’t transform into growth.
- Perhaps more impactful than the type or volume of the opposition is the nature of how we respond to it. If we respond to opposition by turning toward faulty or flawed solutions the potential for growth will be correspondingly limited. If we turn toward God then all opposition can be effectively metabolized into growth.
