Do not run faster or labor more than you have strength and means provided to enable you…but be diligent unto the end.
Doctrine & Covenants 10:4
That is one of the best pieces of counsel we can receive when we feel overwhelmed or lacking in resources to do what seems to be required of us.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, wo be unto him that lieth to deceive because he supposeth that another lieth to deceive, for such are not exempt from the justice of God.
Doctrine & Covenants 10:28
Men find it easy to justify themselves in any wrong when they have convinced themselves they have a righteous cause. God doesn’t play those games. We are to do the right thing for the right reason using the right means if we are to be justified.
It is they who do not fear me, neither keep my commandments but build up churches unto themselves to get gain, yea, and all those that do wickedly and build up the kingdom of the devil—yea, verily, verily, I say unto you, that it is they that I will disturb, and cause to tremble and shake to the center.
Doctrine & Covenants 10:56,67
Behold, this is my doctrine—whosoever repenteth and cometh unto me, the same is my church.
Rather than looking at whether, how, or where someone was baptized to determine who is part of the church of Christ we should look at whether they fear God and whether they build churches up for their own gain. I’m sure there are examples of members of the church, baptized with authority, who seek to build the Lord’s church up but do so with the hope of benefiting themselves rather than simply trying to further His work without thought for what they could gain.
