I never realized before that Section 4 of the Doctrine and Covenants was given to Joseph Smith Sr. It makes me wonder what he asked for that revelation to be given. I expect he asked for an answer from God but was he asking for a revelation of His will or asking how he could assist or asking if he could take some specific part in the work?
