- Taking care of my physical body
- This gift deserves to be honored by my taking the time and effort to keep it in good working order.
- I want to take care of my body now so that it will continue to serve me through a long and productive life.
- As it has so far despite me taking only minimal care.
- I want to build this family into a unit where each member can thrive and be safe through at least 3 generations (the only ones I can reasonably expect to be around to exert any direct influence over their thriving and safety).
- First generation: Laura and me.
- Second generation: Savannah, Mickey, Bex, Alex, Enoch, Noah, Ezra, Emma, Aaron, and any future in-laws.
- Third generation: any grandkids that come—I’m sure at least Savannah will have some.
- I want to faithfully serve others outside my family in whatever capacity I may be called throughout my life.
- I’m having to learn not to complain when I am without any calling.
- I want to live a long life but without ending with 5+ years of mere existence like Grandpa did.
Action Items
- Tell Laura “my goal is to see you thriving again.”
- Tell each of the kids that same thing on their next meal with me: “My goal is to see you thriving and I hope you can come to recognize that as my primary motivation in any of our interactions.”
