Isaiah describes the kind of refuge that the Lord will provide His people:
- Pillar of smoke by day
- I’m not sure exactly what that provides.
- Pillar of fire by night
- That provides light in the darkness.
- A shadow by day
- Provides refuge from the heat (explicitly stated in the scriptures)
- A cover from storm and rain
The place of Mormon provided water, game, cover to hide from the searches of the king.
I still want to provide a refuge for my family from the storms of life. We are working on one gathering each August which will hopefully be an emotionally safe event for everyone to enjoy. I would love to eventually have a place where everyone could safely converge in the event of need where water and basic shelter were a given for all of us regardless of what else was going on in the world.
