Lay aside the things of this world, and seek for the things of a better.

I have the feeling that Emma was concerned about worldly things but from a greedy mindset but from a practical one. While laying those things aside might have been a challenge for her (I don’t know) it might also have been a welcome change for her to realize that she didn’t need to concern herself with things of this world—most of us don’t have that privilege most of the time.
