Alma 19
I notice that the queen did not ask Ammon to heal Lamoni, only to tell her if he was dead or not. Is that because she had some faith in God, or because she did not have faith that Ammon could heal Lamoni? (I’m guessing the former.) We later learn that she is willing to trust Ammon at his word. I also realized that Ammon knew exactly what was happening with Lamoni because of his experience with Alma the younger. The Lord had promised Mosiah that He would protect the sons of Mosiah. I wonder if they would have been in more danger if they had stayed in Zerahemla. Perhaps the Lamanites would have attacked and they would have had to go to war. By the time they joined the Nephites, Lamoni had been a member of the church for over a decade (probably 13 years).
The fact that the people were contending before the queen and king arose is proof that truth alone is nto enough among those who are not prepared and who have nobody to guide them. This is why we need priesthood and continuing revelation.
