Alma 3 – 4
I used to be surprised by how quickly the Nephites could go from righteous to wicked, but as I look more closely at my life and our society I am no longer surprised. The only reason that we don’t seem to have such wide swings is that our whole society is not so closely tied as the Nephites (at this point in their history). If I look at the foundations of our society I can see how quickly we return to pride and partisanship after events that unify us and turn our attention to righteousness. In my personal life I can see (if I am careful) the ease with which I can become complacent in my personal religious activity and attitude.
